Les livres me permettent de faire de la veille, d’approfondir mes connaissances ou tout simplement de me documenter.
Mais lire a tout simplement été une de mes activités favorites depuis l’enfance.
La question de trouver du temps pour lire ne s’est jamais vraiment posée pour moi.
Je lis beaucoup plus que la moyenne, mais j’ai toujours ce sentiment de ne pas lire tout ce que je voudrais.
Lire demande du temps et de la concentration, deux éléments qui peuvent nous manquer terriblement dans nos vies modernes.

Lire les livres qui vous intéressent
Cela peut paraître trivial comme recommandation mais combien de fois nous sommes-nous forcé à lire des livres en dehors de notre champ d’intérêt parce qu’ils nous ont été conseillés par une personne qu’on admire.
Ou parce ce que ce sont des best-sellers ou qu’on les a reçus en cadeau.
La lecture devient pénible, on continue à se convaincre que c’est une lecture utile et au final, on passe 6 mois à essayer de finir un livre.
Au contraire, si un livre vous intéresse, avez-vous remarqué l’envie d’y retourner ? Comme par magie, le temps, on en trouve !
Quand je regarde mon propre parcours de lectrice, mes intérêts n’ont jamais été figés.
En réalité, ils ont évolué au gré de ma curiosité et des mes centres d’intérêts du moment.
Plus jeune, je lisais beaucoup de romans (fiction).
Plus tard, durant mes études, je lisais des livres sur la méthodologie scientifique ou sur des sujets techniques.
J’ai eu mon époque lecture autour de la nutrition et cuisine-santé.
Quand j’ai eu mon premier enfant, mes lectures étaient quasi-exclusivement autour de la parentalité.
Depuis deux ans, je lis des livres autour des sujets que j’aborde sur ce blog.
Et régulièrement, je lis des livres ou en lien avec mon activité.
Et qui sait, peut-être que dans quelques mois, ma curiosité va me permettre de découvrir d’autres thématiques.
Afin d’éviter de tomber dans ce que les japonais appellent « tsundoku », sélectionner au préalable ses lectures est possible grâce à des applications comme Blinkist, Headway ou Koober.
J’utilise, personnellement, Blinkist et j’en suis satisfaite.
S’autoriser à ne pas finir un livre
Il y a cette injonction de finir ce qu’on commence, qui s’applique aux livres.
Mais parfois, on n’arrive pas à accrocher à un livre, même sur une thématique qui nous intéresse.
On continue à se convaincre qu’au delà d’un certain chapitre, le livre va devenir plus intéressant pour nous.
En lecture, comme dans la vie, si ça ne « matche » pas, ne vous acharnez pas !
Mon mantra depuis toujours. Ma limite ? La page 25. Si je dépasse la page 25, j’ai de fortes chances de finir le livre.
Pourquoi ? Je n’ai aucune explication scientifique, c’est une limite personnelle qui s’est vérifiée avec l’expérience.
Parfois, je fais un effort au delà de la page 25 si le sujet m’intéresse vraiment ou l’auteur.rice a fait ses preuves dans le passé.
Avoir toujours un livre à lire
Quand on a un livre disponible facilement, on l’ouvre sans trop d’efforts quand on a un temps disponible : dans les transports, pendant les déplacements ou dans une salle d’attente.

Mettre des garde-fous autour des distractions
Si vous n’arrivez pas à lire, ce n’est pas forcément dû au manque de temps mais au manque d’attention (Focus).
Il est très difficile, en ces périodes d’infobésité, de contenus interminables sur les réseaux sociaux, de notifications sur nos smartphones et de catalogue Netflix, de (re)trouver un temps d’attention de qualité.
Parce que l’attention est une capacité.
Nous développons notre attention comme un muscle, pour rester focalisé sur ce que nous souhaitons faire sans se disperser.
Si nous regardons trop d’infos anxiogènes ou si nous nous perdons dans les méandres des réseaux sociaux, notre attention est altérée.
